Viking History Walk – A Journey Through a Thousand Years

Escape the crowds and immerse yourself in authentic Norwegian farm life at a charming farmyard with 18th-century wooden buildings, friendly animals, and genuine local flavors. Experience this unique place on a guided tour along the scenic Eidselva River, where local history comes alive and leads you there.

From everyday life to dramatic legends, this tour brings a millennium of stories to life. As we stroll through scenic surroundings, your guide will share vivid tales of the people who once lived here – from humble farmers to Viking chieftains.

The walk ends at a remarkable farmstead that dates back to the Viking Age – the very site where the world’s largest Viking ship, the mighty Myklebust ship, was unearthed. Here, you’ll discover the story of the legendary king who was buried beneath a grand mound, and learn how people lived, worked, and ruled in Viking times. As a special highlight, you’ll get the rare chance to walk on an authentic Viking burial mound – a one-of-a-kind experience you won’t find anywhere else.

To top it all off, you’ll enjoy homemade apple cake made from local apples, served with coffee and tea in the historic atmosphere of the farm.
